Directed by Steven Quale, Final Destination 5 is set to be released in August of this year, proving that the Final Destination franchise (and Death) may just be unstoppable.
Starring Arlen Escarpeta, Nicholas D’Agosto (Heroes), David Koechner (The Office), Emma Bell (The Walking Dead), Tony Todd (Candyman), Courtney B. Vance, and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, the fifth movie in the Final Destination series will begin with a horrible suspension bridge collapse. (Each Final Destination movie starts with a huge tragic event. Part 1 featured an airplane explosion, Part 2 started with a highway car pileup, Part 3 had a deadly roller-coaster accident, and Part 4 started with a race car crash.
Tony Todd will reprise his role as Bludworth (from Final Destination 1 and Final Destination 2). And like the last movie The Final Destination, Final Destination 5 will be in 3D. Screenwriter Eric Heisserer (who wrote the Elm Street remake as well as the upcoming Thing prequel) mentioned on Twitter that one of the deaths involves a lasik operation and that there’s a lot of character development in the film.
By the way, Todd has mentioned that if FD5 is a success, then Final Destination 6 and 7 will be filmed back to back. You can’t cheat death, but it looks like this series might be able to.
Final Destination 5 arrives in theateres August 26, 2011.
