Fans of Leatherface and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series can now get excited about the upcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D.

Currently in negotiations to direct the picture is director/writer John Luessenhop, who directed the bank heist film Takers. Producing the movie will be Carl Mazzocone, who also produced Boxing Helena and Repo! The Genetic Opera. Mazzocone is also the former production president of Twisted Pictures (the company behind the Saw movies).

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D will be a joint production between Lionsgate and Nu Image, and the start date is sometime in June of this year.

Mazzocone’s deal actually gives him the rights to up to 6 new Chainsaw films. He says that the upcoming 3D movie will pick up from where Tobe Hooper’s 1973 original film left off.
