In anticipation of the release of Jason Eisener’s Hobo With A Shotgun, the “Hobo With A Shotgun Trailer Contest” was held. This was a fake trailer contest just like the one held by Robert Rodriguez/SXSW for the 2007 release of Grindhouse. As you may recall, the winner of that contest was the faux trailer for Hobo With A Shotgun. And just like the fake Grindhouse trailer for Machete, Hobo With A Shotgun is now a real movie! And so, for the future we envision an endlessly repeating sequence of real movies sponsoring fake trailers which turn into real movies sponsoring fake trailers, ad infinitum.

Here are some of the faux Grindhouse trailer entries for the contest that we like:

Daddy Cross

Amusing trailer for a faux-British exploitation flick about a gay priest who stalks the streets of London’s Soho. We suppose it’s just like HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey who can’t handle conflicting instructions, so he kills people. Funny Brits!

Undead Revenge

Dude is killed but comes back as a zombie to avenge his family’s death. “Say goodnight…”

Care Center Slaughterhouse

This one took 2nd place in the contest. It’s a hilarious montage of carnage at a care center. Looks like a free-for-all between hot nurses and assisted living residents. Who ever loses… we win.

Van Gore

Created by Keith Hodder, Peter Strauss and Jerrad Pulham, Van Gore spoofs on Color Me Blood Red from Herschell Gordon Lewis and A Bucket of Blood from Roger Corman. It won first place.

Personally, we think somebody should turn Care Center Slaughterhouse into a real movie.
