The Hudson Horror Show VII will screen classic horror films (and some exploitation and sci-fi) in 35MM glory on Saturday, June 8th, 2013! This popular film festival, now in its 7th year, returns to the famed Silver Cinemas South Hills 8 in Poughkeepsie, New York and features five full length genre films along with shorts and drive in style trailers.
Hudson Horror Show VII Films Shown
Gone With The Pope (1976/2009)
Duke Mitchell, who directed and starred in the legendary Massacre Mafia Style, stars and directs this similarly themed but seldom screened exploitation flick. The plot concerns a career criminal (Duke Mitchell) who hatches a plan to kidnap the Pope, the ransom being a dollar from every Catholic in the world. Made in 1976, the film was thought to be lost, but in the late 2000s somebody discovered the film negative and unfinished cut work print in the deceased Mitchell’s parking garage. Grindhouse Releasing restored it and now you get to see it in the Hudson Valley! There will be official movie rosary beads that are FREE to the first 50 people through the door for Hudson Horror 7!
Starring Danny Lee from John Woo’s The Killer and featuring a pack of Asian monsters that specialize in Kung Fu, Inframan (aka Super Infra-Man) is a 1975 drive in schlocktacular from the legendary Shaw Brothers. The ten million year-old Princess Dragon Mom (Terry Liu) attempts to conquer the earth with her legion of mutant monsters. In response, Professor Chang (Wang Hsieh) creates Inframan, turning a young volunteer (Danny Lee) into a bionic superhero to save the world.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 (1986)
Probably the best of the sequels to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 stars the late Dennis Hopper as Lieutenant “Lefty” Enright, former Texas Ranger, and uncle of Sally Hardesty and her invalid brother Franklin, who were victims of Leatherface and his family 13 years earlier. Lefty is out for revenge on the Sawyer family, aided by radio DJ “Stretch” Brock (Caroline Williams). Also featuring Bill Moseley as “Chop Top.”
Army of Darkness (1993)
Revel in the insanity of Bruce Campbell’s biggest battle against the Deadites in Army of Darkness! The third entry in Sam Raimi’s original Evil Dead trilogy, this installment is mostly comedy, but it is extremely clever and solidifies Campbell’s status as a wise-cracking badass. Total fun.
What could it be? An 80’s slasher? A slice of 70’s sleaze? How about a Hammer flick? Be there and find out!
Also seen: vintage drive in trailers, vendors selling horror merchandise, door prizes, trivia contests and more.
