Katt Shea, the director behind Poison Ivy, Stripped to Kill, and The Rage: Carrie 2, has announced that she will be directing a remake of Dance of the Damned, a movie that she made way back in 1989. Shea believes that the concept behind Dance of the Damned has the potential to resonate with a new generation of movie goers.
In the original Dance of the Damned, a vampire follows his instincts to a strip joint where he focuses in on one of the performers. He picks her for his meal because she is contemplating suicide, but he wants to share her life before taking it, and during the course of the evening they discuss their differences, their fears, and their lifestyles. As the moment of truth approaches, the woman becomes less sure that she wants to die.
Pre-production has started on the new Dance of the Damned, which will bring on the legendary Roger Corman as executive producer. Corman, the man behind many, many cult favorites like Piranha, Little Shop of Horrors, Galaxy of Terror, and Battle Beyond the Stars, also executive-produced the original, which starred Starr Andreeff and Cyril O’Reilly.
