Update: January 2011
There is a newer Official Scream 4 Trailer out. Take a look:
Oooh, starts out ho-hum with the typical “What’s your favorite scary movie?” phone calls, but seems to go down the path of deconstructing the hell out of the genre. So, according to the trailer:
- It’s the anniversary of the original Woodsboro massacre
- Dewey: “One generation’s tragedy is the next one’s joke.”
- Sidney Prescott decides to return home (probably a bad idea)
- Thanks to the internet, secrets are impossible
- A new killer is patterning his murders after the original movie-within-the-movie (“Stab”)
- The unexpected is the new cliche
- Virgins can die now
- The killer likes to film the murders now
- Sidney can’t be killed because she’s deemed “victim royalty”
- Hmmm..she’s expendable so maybe you can killer her off
- Never say “I’ll be right back.”
- There sure have been a hell of a lot of remakes lately

October 2010
The trailer for Wes Craven’s Scream 4 is out, and it doesn’t look like it deviates too far from “Scream” formula, which partly dissects and sends up the horror movie “formula”, which has admittedly changed a bit for more sophisticated horror audiences (even the virgin can die!) Coming back from the original trilogy are David Arquette, Neve Campbell, and Courteney Cox. Plot is unknown, except for the fact that the “Ghostface killer” is obviously back.
