You’ve been waiting for the new Prometheus Trailer. Here it is:

Ridley Scott’s Prometheus is his first sci-fi/horror outing since Alien in 1979.

In an interview, Michael Fassbender confirmed that Prometheus takes place in the Alien universe, although Ridley Scott still denies this, saying straight out in a recent interview that the famous alien xenomorph will not be making an appearance.

Our guess is that the movie will focus on the Space Jockey.

Prometheus arrives in theaters on June 8, 2012.

Deadline reports that the long awaited Ridley Scott Alien Prequel is no longer an Alien Prequel. It’s now a completely new film called Prometheus.

20th Century Fox has announced that Prometheus will be released on March 9th, 2012. Already signed to star in the movie is Swedish actress Noomi Rapace (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo). It’s a good possibility that either Angelina Jolie or Charlize Theron will be cast as another lead female character.

Says Ridley Scott about the project:

“While Alien was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place. The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien’s DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative.”

Damon Lindelof is working together with Scott on the new script. Lindelof wrote many episodes of Lost, and has worked on the screenplay for Cowboys and Aliens and the upcoming Star Trek sequel.

Persons knowledgeable in Greek mythology will recognize Prometheus as the Titan who created man from clay and stole fire from Zeus to give to mortals. As punishment, he was bound to a rock while an eagle feasted on his liver daily. There’s also the possible Frankenstein connection from Mary Shelley’s novel. Too early to tell how this relates to Scott’s film, but it will be the first sci-fi movie he’s directed since Blade Runner.
