Examiner reports that actress Zelda Rubinstein has been taken off life support and is close to death. A friend has reported that her lungs and kidneys have failed. Rubinstein has been at Los Angeles’ Cedar Sinai Hospital for over a month.

Contact Music, however, reports that the stories of her failing health have been “exaggerated.”

Friends of POLTERGEIST star ZELDA RUBINSTEIN have dismissed reports the actress is close to death after a month-long health battle, insisting she’s well on the way to recovery….sources insist things aren’t as bleak as reports suggest. A friend tells MovieHole.net, “She’s OK. Vitals are good. She’s apparently doing better. Internet sources exaggerated the story.”

The 4′ 3″ tall, 76 year old actress is most known for her role in the Poltergeist trilogy of films as the psychic, Tangina Barrons. She was also the narrator for 15 episodes of the television series, “The Scariest Places on Earth.”
