From Eagle One Media comes a new spanish language horror film from Chile entitled Zombie Dawn. The low budget zombie horror flick is written and directed by Cristian Toledo and Lucio A. Rojas, and has already been making a name for itself at various festivals in South America. Sites like Dread Central have called Zombie Dawn “an enthralling Spanish language film” and “a seriously impressive piece of work.”
In Zombie Dawn, a strange incident at a mining facility unleashes a zombie horde, decimating large portions of the cities and countryside. The infected areas are sealed off from the rest of the population. 15 years later, the government and the mining corporation try to find out what really happened at the mining complex by sending in a group of mercenaries and scientists into the quarantined zone.
Zombie Dawn recently won awards at the Zixion Sars film festival in Chile for first time directors Cristian Toledo and Lucio A. Rojas, and art direction. The film has won praise for its presentation and its ability to deliver the goods on such a small budget. Zombie Dawn stars Sebastian Accorsi, Guillermo Alfaro, Martin Bohte, Felipe Lobos, and Jorge Magni. It is scheduled to be released in the United States on April 20th, 2012.
Comic Book Prequel
Comic book industry veterans David A. Rodriguez and Dheeraj Verma have teamed up to create a comic book prequel to the film called Zombie Dawn: Safehouse. The horror comic will tie in to the events of the film and will be marketed along side the theatrical release. Cover art will be provided by Patrick McEvoy and Lee Moder.
Zombie Dawn is playing at the following locations this year (2012):
TEXAS, Fort Worth: Cinema Latino
COLORADO, Denver: Cinema Latino
